Recommendations? It would depend - what kind of genre are you interested in? If you don’t mind some blood, I’d recommend Angel Beats because it’s pretty recent and it’s well animated. If you’re more into mystery, I’d recommend something like Hyouka, which is really cutesy and has some light mystery in it. It’s also well animated.
If you’re into mecha, maybe try Gundam 00 (well animated, herp derp). Otherwise, if you don’t mind a little bit of old school, I’d recommend Cowboy Bebop or Trigun - which are more adventure/action-y.
Or if you want something cutesy, maybe try Kimi ni Todoke (which I haven’t actually seen, I’ve just read the manga), which is supposed to be cute.
Or if you want something adventure/awesome, then I recommend Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. From what I’ve heard, it’s amazing. I’ve only ever read the manga, though. Brotherhood follows the manga pretty closely from what I heard. It’s a little dark, but it’s got a fantastic storyline.
If you’re more specific, I can recommend something more geared towards a certain genre. And of course, my tastes might not line up with yours. So, maybe tell me what you’re looking for? Drama? Romance? Adventure? Mystery?

They might be hurt by the drugs and stuff, but they might be hurt even more if you were to be putting yourself in a lot of danger. Just please be careful. Maybe try an anonymous hotline or something, just to start out with? Give it a whirl to see if it helps at all.
